An interview with photography instructor Chris Doyal

Where does your passion for photography come from?

For me it’s all about feeding the creative animal. Capturing the perfect moment and telling a great story in a photograph.

What do you love most about teaching?

I love seeing eyes light up and hearing people say “I always wondered about that!” I once had a student who tried everything to get good results from her camera. She was so frustrated that she was ready to go back to her phone to take photos. After taking the class, and learning some of the basics, she was anxious to spend more time getting to know her camera. She left the class with a huge smile on her face. Understanding Your DSLR Camera (Face to Face) Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) and the newer mirrorless cameras are far more complex than ordinary point and shoot cameras. Learn how to identify and adjust the most commonly used functions of your DSLR camera in an actual hands-on outdoor environment.
