Fall Quarter’s Schlock Cinema class is about loneliness in the monster community. In “Them,” we see classic scenes of hundreds of people discombobulatedly fleeing giant, angry antsónobody helping anyone else. “Mystery of the Wax Museum” features veteran horror star, Lionel Atwill, as a lonely museum curator who just wants to meet a nice girl, while in “Return of the Vampire,” Bela Lugosi plays a thinly disguised version of Dracula whose fearsome behavior can barely compare with the horror of the daily air raids over London during The Blitz.
