ere come the girls… This month’s issue is a bridesmaid special, from making the most of your maids (page 56) to finding the girls the perfect gowns (page 30) we’ve got you covered on all things bridesmaids. In all the excitement of the engagement, it’s easy to get swept up and start asking girls to be your bridesmaids, but choosing the best girls for the role requires some serious thought. Some questions that should be going through your head when your choosing who to ask to be by your side are: • Will she be helpful and organised? • How many are too many? • Will she be fun, supportive and reliable? • Does she know what kind of wedding I want? • Will she have time to help me with planning and attend appointments? • Does she get on well with the groom? • How would I feel without her standing beside me?

When I was trying to choose who would be my bridesmaids, I decided I didn’t want too many (the cost of a wedding is quite enough without adding an extra six bridesmaid outfits onto the bill!). Finding your dress might be trickier if you have lots of bridesmaids throwing in their opinion and finding an outfit that they are all happy to wear is also something sure to increase in difficulty. Having a fairly big group of girl friends, I came to the decision that I didn’t want to single some of them out to be included, while others were not included. On the day I followed my sister and my sister-in-law down the aisle, who both supported me throughout the planning (and throughout my life!). The more, the merrier might be your motto, in which case a gaggle of girls tending to you on the day will be perfect. A big bridal party makes for fabulous photographs too – speaking of which, in this issue, you can win your photography package (page 51). The bottom line is, if you feel that you want to ask someone to be your bridesmaid you absolutely should! Then comes the all-important hen party, with all of your best girls. Here, Emily Williams speaks with Founder and Owner, Larry Walshe, about the story behind the business, the craft that goes into every project and trending floristry styles this season. SO LARRY, WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND LARRY WALSHE STUDIOS? For as long as I can remember, I‘ve always loved design and how to transform a space from a blank canvas into something spectacular. I enjoy constantly trying to find ways of visually interpreting client ideas into the most beautiful reality. I started out helping a friend at a wedding planning service and it was there where I had that eureka moment. When I began my career as a wedding planner, I became frustrated with the design process that was being offered at the time. Given the level of investment that the clients channel into their special day, I believe that wedding design should be viewed in the same way as an interior design or renovation project. That perspective gathered momentum into what is now Larry Walshe Studios. WHAT MAKES LARRY WALSHE STUDIOS STAND OUT FROM OTHER SUPPLIERS? I come with a logistical point of view as well as a design perspective, so I really think about the guest experience. I like to view the flow of the event in the way chapters of a book unfold,

considering every moment in the plot. I look at the couple’s style, values and budget, then transform that into the design to make their lasting memories so special. WHAT DO YOUR SERVICES COVER? First and foremost we are a florist but because it has such a symbiotic quality to it, it makes sense to be a part of all of the choices. We go beyond floristry and can create the entire atmosphere and look of the event, including accessories and elements of production, such as stages, wedding aisles, dance floors and bars. We work creatively with every supplier to keep it all consistent. HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK WHEN COUPLES BOOK LARRY WALSHE STUDIOS? In the initial consultation, we sit down and go through what is most important to them and what ideas they have collated. We gather as much information as possible to come back with a proposal that’s our interpretation of the brief. From start to finish, it’s totally up to them how many times we meet. On average, I meet with them two or three times before the wedding day, including a site visit. Zoom is also so convenient for quick calls and immediate feedback. IS THERE ANY LIMITATION TO A PROJECT’S CREATIVITY? We always design with a budget in mind, so while it’s a very creative process, we know that everything we are proposing is tailored to a price that the client is comfortable with. I’m here to listen, advise and interpret a brief to offer the best result for them. It’s about interpreting what they are looking for within the budget parameters, the style and the colour palette to make the space as beautiful as can be.

Details IF THEY GIVE YOU A RELAXED BRIEF, WHERE DO YOU TEND TO GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM? I like working sensitively with the space and I try not to juxtapose the styles. For example, if the wedding is in a stately home, I like to pull colours from the tapestries or the carpets or the antiques, so that we’re working harmoniously with the environment. You don’t want to fight against your surroundings, it’s about enhancing the space and making it work for you. DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE SENSES AND HOW TO ENGAGE THE GUESTS? Absolutely. We always try to establish how important that is to the client. We then focus them into moments where you can relish and celebrate those shared values in the building. For instance, I’ve previously had bespoke scents made that are pumped through machines to enhance the space. At a more affordable level, we use scented candles and fragrant flowers, like tuberose, sweet peas, peonies, and perfumed roses. WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR FLOWERS FROM AND IS SUSTAINABILITY A FOCUS FOR YOU? The majority come from Aalsmeer in Holland, the flower capital of the world, and where possible we use British blooms. With regards to sustainability, we have a carbon offset programme with the World Land Trust to reduce our emissions. We also launched our retail side called Bloom (bybloom.co.uk) in October 2020 as a covid response to being unable able to do any event work. It is the UK’s first 100% plastic-free and

sustainable online florist. We’re always striving to move forward and find new ways of working. WHAT’S THE MINIMUM TIME FRAME THAT YOU NEED TO DESIGN AN EVENT? In 2019, I turned around an event with 24 hours notice, so it can be done! Generally, about three months is ideal, as in that time frame, you can have anything you want but not enough time to change your mind, which keeps you excited and inspired. For destination weddings, we normally need between 6 to 12 months because of the logistics involved. WHAT ARE YOUR MOST MEMORABLE INSTALLATIONS? I’ve created a lot of work that I’m proud of and every single opportunity I love for one reason or another. I also never repeat the same design twice, which makes it really enjoyable. I work as a versatile designer who is willing to cross genres and styles. It’s this variety that keeps me challenged and excited. WHAT FLOWERS OR WEDDING DESIGN ELEMENTS ARE TRENDING IN 2021? I tend to defy trends and attract people who want an individual look, which is what we excel at doing. However, the heavy use of foliage and texture is certainly trending and the quintessentially English Harry and Meghan wedding style is what clients keep coming back to. Overall, clients are becoming more conscious of sustainability and are focused on texture, depth and movement. WH

ith so much planning to do for your big day, it can be hard to figure out what to do first. As you get immersed in planning, you’ll be wondering when you should let your guests know the details around your wedding day. We’ve devised a handy guide around wedding stationery etiquette, to help you plan the best time to send save the dates, when to post your wedding invitations and a time-frame for ordering any on the day stationery items…

As soon as you book your wedding venue or service, you’ll know the date you’ll be tying the knot. In all the excitement you'll want to be sure that your nearest and dearest keep the date free to watch you say your vows.

need to. Generally, save the date cards are not sent to evening guests, as they will not need to keep the whole day free. If you receive a save the date, you would usually expect to be invited to the whole event.

How long you have given yourself before the big day will influence whether you choose to send save the date cards or not. If you only have a couple of months until the wedding day, it might make more sense to skip straight to sending out your formal invitations. If you have left a longer planning period, there are a few reasons to send save the dates. Firstly, it allows your guests to keep the date free, avoiding booking something else on the date of your wedding. Secondly, it gives your guests a heads up that they may need to plan to travel, arrange childcare, save for accommodation or book a day off work to attend.

When you send your wedding invitations can come down to whether you have already told your guests the wedding date. If guests have already received a save the date card, then you can send your invitations a little later, knowing that they will be expecting to receive an invitation. We recommend sending wedding invitations around eight months before the big day. Check with your venue when they will need your final numbers, as this will impact when you need all of your RSVPs back, but usually eight weeks before the big day is a good amount of time to submit your final numbers.

Save the dates are the first sneak peek your guests will get of your wedding vibe. It will give them an idea of the tone of your big day, colour scheme and details including where and when the day will take place. The excitement around your big day will start to build! You can send save the dates as soon as you have booked your wedding venue, but we recommend sending your save the dates around 12 months before the wedding date. This allows plenty of time for guests to make plans but is not so far in advance that the card gets lost and the date forgotten. If you are getting married abroad, we would suggest giving your guests as much notice as possible so that they have time to make arrangements to be there with you on the day.

Order any on-the-day stationery items six to eight weeks before the wedding date. Depending on the items you are ordering, you'll need to know your final numbers and guest list so that you can create a table plan and know the names of those attending for place-name cards. The guest list can change at the last minute due to a guest no longer being able to attend, which can make the table plan a minefield. However, try not to leave it too late to order on-the-day items. The last few weeks before the wedding will be very busy for you and you want to allow time for all of your items to be printed and with you at least a week before the wedding. If a guest drops out in the final couple of weeks, it is understandable that their name will be on the table plan – even if you do invite someone else to fill their seat!

On both your save the dates and your wedding invitations, be clear who is invited. Address the envelope of each card to the members of the household that will be invited to celebrate with you. If you are allowing someone to have a plus one, address the envelope ‘plus guest’, so that they know from the start. This will allow your guests to book suitable accommodations if they

And, while your groom may be your go-to on the big things, we are sorry to tell you ladies, he is unlikely to be concerned with what colour the taper candles are going to be on your reception tables or the types of potted plants you present as favours. Choose ladies who can help you organise, are always on-hand when you need them and who will keep the fun going all night long at your evening reception (no one wants their bridesmaid to head for bed at 9.30pm!).

While the roles will vary depending on the type of wedding you’re dreaming of, the stage of planning you are at and what you want from the day, make it clear what you expect from your bridesmaids from the start. Will you be needing help with a DIY wedding? Do you want them to source suppliers on your behalf? Perhaps you just want a sympathetic ear when things don’t go exactly to plan. If you’re not used to asking for help or delegating tasks and you have no idea where to begin with what roles your bridesmaids could undertake, here are some ideas of how your maids can help to get you started…

First up, if you know who your bridesmaids are going to be early on in the engagement, your girls can share your excitement and help you organise an engagement party.

Dress shopping! This is an obvious but crucial role for the bridesmaids. If you’re going down the traditional road of not letting your groom see your gown before the wedding day, he won’t be able to offer you opinions or support on this one. You and your girls can laugh together at the wedding dresses that are just so not for you and share an emotional moment when you find the one! Make a day of it and celebrate with a glass of Champagne afterward.

Also under shopping, finding the bridesmaids’ dresses. It's important that the girls are with you to make sure they are happy with the style you select and can have any adjustments or alterations made.

They can organise your hen party! Whether it's all kept as a surprise for you or you have a hand in what happens, letting them do all the organising will take any stress of the hen party away from you – especially when it comes to collecting money from the hens! When it comes to saving money, chat with the girls. They may have a suggestion you haven’t thought of, like smaller bouquets for them to carry, or wearing a pair of their own shoes that match the dress you’ve selected together. Even knowing someone who has a car that you could hire at a discounted rate…

If you have DIY tasks, invite the girls over for dinner and afterward you can all get to work on making and creating wedding details. If your baker allows, take your girls along with you to choose your cake. This is something we are certain they’ll be up for!

The girls should attend a wedding rehearsal if you are having one before the big day – or just have a practise of walking down the aisle in your hallway!

Once you’ve chosen your venue, set the date and have a rough idea of the style of wedding you are going for, it is time to send your save the dates! Your bridesmaids can be ready to write and seal envelopes or hand-deliver the save the dates to guests that live locally.

Let them take the lead on timings on the wedding morning so that you can try and relax and enjoy being pampered by your makeup team. But, what most people do not recognise is the venue and the food you choose are very much linked together. FAMILY CATERING A few of BHR couples have decided that they want a family member to handle the catering, as it's a huge cost saving and our kitchen allows it. In all cases, the family member who oversaw the wedding food brought recipes that were rooted in family tradition. Our favorite was the 84-year-old grandmother who prepared all the food for 200 guests banquetstyle. Everyone loved it and was very personal and memorable. But, don’t forget about the dirty dishes!

CHUCKWAGON To launch BHR to our family and friends, we had an old fashion chuckwagon BBQ. We had everything from brisket, ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread, and an amazing boysenberry cobbler. All cooked over a real campfire in cast iron pots. Everyone ate in our half-completed barn at the time.

SIGNATURE BAR SERVICE At BHR, we allow our guests to offer an open bar as long as licensed bartenders oversee the operations. Couples can offer fun signature drinks beyond soft drinks, beer, and wine. We've seen a tequila and bourbon tasting bar that was a huge hit as well as signature cocktails. We also suggested the BHR Shishito Margarita (the recipe can be found on our website and was also featured in last month’s issue).

Inspired by the gossamer-like autumnal hydrangeas and the raw organic stone of The Old Hay Barn walls, the styling for this photoshoot was a fusion of textures and muted tones, complimenting and encapsulating the natural surroundings. A cloud of dried hydrangeas with white carnations hung above the tablescape, laid with artisanal ceramics, bamboo silk runners, taper candles in natural hues, crisp white florals in ceramic pots all interspersed amongst cut glassware with gold and white cutlery, adding a touch of sophistication and luxury. Stationery was crafted from poppy-seed paper alongside contemporary frosted signage. Sculptural cakes oozed texture and intricate details of the hydrangea petals.

High in the snow-blanked mountains, snuggled beside an open fire – proposals don’t come more charming or heartfelt than this, but we’ll let Simone tell you the story: “Etai surprised me with a romantic trip over New Year to Colorado. We spent the day snowboarding and then one evening, snuggled by the fireplace, Etai gave me a scrapbook of our adventures together, and a poem he’d written for me. Then he got down on one knee with the most beautiful ring and proposed to me!” FIRST LOVE While Simone and Etai checked out almost 10 different wedding venues, it was the first they saw that stole their hearts – Borgo Corsignano in Poppi, Tuscany. “The gardens were breathtakingly beautiful and we loved that guests could stay at the venue too. It was exactly what we’d imagined our wedding in Tuscany would look like. It was magical, spacious, beautiful views, plus there were two pools and a hot tub for guests staying on-site.” AISLE STYLE It was a Berta design that captured this bride’s heart. “I wanted to feel both beautiful and comfortable. I’d always imagined a long train and sleeves, but when I tried designs like these on, I felt weighed down. The dress I chose was gorgeous, elegant, sexy and comfortable. I practised sitting down in it too before saying yes to the dress.” TAKE A VOW “Having a first-look before our ceremony was incredibly special. Just the two of us, no distractions, it was an amazing experience. When we made our

vows, I loved listening to the promises we made and how our senses of humour shone through.” PARTY TIME The couple set the tone for a stylish event with tunes from the 60s and 70s forming the soundtrack to their wedding banquet. “It’s music we both grew up listening to through our parents,” they smile. “For the party, we chose dance music that we knew all our guests would appreciate, including some Israeli songs as Etai is from Israel.” The couple shared their first dance to ‘This Year’s Love’ by David Gray. WORDS OF WISDOM “I always tell my friends that photos are a must,” says the bride, “but there is nothing better than having a video of your wedding. It will take you back in time and make you feel like you’re reliving it, and we look forward to showing it to our kids one day.”

Lucky couple Robyn and Tom found love as teenagers, and just in time for their 10-year anniversary, Tom proposed on a romantic trip to Amsterdam. Then it was full-speed into planning with bride Robyn, who works as a wedding coordinator, taking the lead. “Little did Tom know we’d be viewing venues straight away,” smiles Robyn, “but there was a two year wait for our ideal venue and date.” The location of choice? Askham Hall in Cumbria. “I appreciate a beautiful old building and we fell in love the moment we set foot into the main building. It took my breath away.” SETTING THE DATE In a twist on tradition, this couple legally tied the knot a few months before their June wedding. “We were having an outdoor symbolic ceremony at Askham Hall, so we had our legal wedding at the local registry office one day before our 12-year anniversary instead.” THE ‘I DO’s “I felt super emotional as soon as I arrived at the end of the aisle and saw everyone looking at me with teary eyes. Then Tom couldn’t hold it together either. Having an acoustic singer really added that extra touch, it was so perfect and we just couldn’t stop crying,” gushes Robyn.

FINDING THE ONE “I’d had my eye on my dress for several years without even realising it,” reveals the bride. “I found it in a Newcastle boutique but in cream, which didn’t suit me as a red head. So I hit the road and tried it on in another shade at The Aisle in Ilkley. I found larger shops really overwhelming and loved the experience of shopping in a small boutique. Sash and Veil designed some bespoke tulle wings for each shoulder with matching applique to my dress.” GRAND PLANS “We’d planned a June wedding to coincide with half-term, as lots of our family and friends are teachers or have children. In the end, coronavirus restrictions meant we only had 22 guests anyway, so it didn’t really matter. It was actually a great excuse to downsize and really make a fuss of our nearest family and friends.” The couple celebrated in style with a Michelin-starred seven-course wedding menu by Richard Swales, before Robbie William’s ‘She’s The One’ set the soundtrack to their first dance. “Everyone joined us halfway through. It was really special.” WH

King and Queen CAUGHT ON CAMERA Every couple has a beautiful proposal story, but not everyone has those moments captured on film! “It was the morning of New Year’s Eve,” reminisces Golnaz. “We went for a walk at Montacute House and as we were wandering through the gardens, Dean was taking photos. He suggested we set the phone up on the bench to take some pictures of us together – little did I know it was set to video, and recording every moment as Dean then got down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand.” LET THERE BE LOVE 16 weeks isn’t long to plan a wedding, but with a pandemic unfolding and just one date available at their venue of choice, 16 weeks was all Golnaz and Dean decided they’d need: “We were determined to make it happen. We didn’t know what the rules might be, and we knew we may have to limit our guest list. We just wanted to get married, no matter what.” 21ST-CENTURY FAIRY-TALE “We instantly fell in love with Lulworth Castle while searching online. I could picture us at the top of the staircase with the stunning castle backdrop. Sarah, the wedding organiser there, was so attentive, giving us Zoom tours and

It was the most perfect venue for a fairytale wedding.” THE BIG DAY The bride and her bridesmaids rented a cottage close to the castle for the night before the wedding. “I woke up early, crept downstairs and the first thing I saw was my dress hanging up. It all felt real then, I was so excited to marry my one true love,” Golnaz smiles. Hairstylist Laura Mackenzie and makeup artist Michaela Selene had everyone feeling their beautiful best. “It was an absolute pleasure to have them around on what could have been a very stressful morning,” the bride recommends. PERFECT PROMISES The bride walked down the aisle to ‘I Get To Love You’ by Ruelle. “The lyrics relate so well to our love story, when we first heard the song we both burst into tears. It was a risk to book our castle venue without seeing it in person, but it was absolutely breath-taking! Walking down the aisle was totally surreal.”

It was third time lucky for Leonora and Mark, who set the date for the third and final time for their dream Chilterns wedding. “We got married at St Mary the Virgin Church in Hambleden. It’s a medieval church in one of the prettiest villages in the Chilterns, and the very same church my parents had married in 30 years ago,” smiles Leonora. ENGLISH ROSE Paying homage to family traditions, the bride even arrived in the very same 1927 Rolls Royce that had delivered her mum to her parents’ wedding ceremony all those years ago. Opera singers performed Andrea Bocelli at the couple’s ceremony. A huge archway of roses welcomed the couple and their guests to the church, with a sea of aptly named David Austin ‘Leonora’ roses filling the space with beauty and scent within. “I had to pinch myself,” Leonora reminisces. “My father then walked me down the aisle carefully trying not to step on the enormous train of my Suzanne Neville dress and metres-long veil. Our miniature dachshund Odie was even there, he was the ring bearer!” HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS Leonora and Mark left the ceremony hand in hand on cloud nine, before relocating to their home in the Hambleden Valley, where their guests joined them to celebrate. “We had a beautiful marquee in the garden – it

was like something out of a fairytale with thousands of roses. I’ll never forget it,” smiles the bride. Guests were treated to glasses of Champagne on the lawn as bagpipers played on from inside the marquee. A three-course meal followed with the speeches and then the couple cut their decadent five-tier cake.

A TALE OF TWO DRESSES After marrying at their traditional church ceremony in a quintessentially English Suzanne Neville design, bride Leonora opted for a wardrobe change when it was time to hit the dance floor. “I changed into a custom-made Valentini Spose gown to dance the night away. We had a live band – The Sway Allstars Orchestra – and a DJ to supply the tunes.”

Fall-ing for You Above a sea of twinkling lights on Christmas Eve in New York City, this dashing groom decided to ask the all-important question and propose to bride Navey. “It was a complete surprise on a family vacation with my parents and siblings. Once I’d said yes, his parents and siblings appeared out of nowhere to surprise me as well!” she reminisces. RUSTIC ROMANCE After opting for an autumn wedding, Navey and Jacob named Schafer Century Barn as their venue of dreams for their biggest day. “It’s a family business that holds a lot of tradition and love in my family, being seventh generation farmers. My parents completely rebuilt the century barn in the backyard of my childhood home. My siblings both got married here, it seemed special and sentimental for my husband and I to do that too. e have a motto at Blame Her Ranch: Be happy or don’t come! Now you might think that is rather harsh, but it actually is very important to us as we fundamentally believe weddings are a happy time and if we cannot fulfill what you are looking for we would rather help you find another venue.

We go out of our way to limit restrictions and be as transparent as we can before the booking and during the event. Focusing on customer service benefits our ranch, especially in this digital age where the customer is the boss, has a voice, and needs to be at the center of every aspect of the event. I’ve written before about the steps we take to ensure this high level of customer satisfaction, but the 'true acid test' comes in the reviews we receive. Before you consider booking a venue, read the reviews people post about. Like BHR, many venues go one step further and provide contact information where former couples can provide feedback and insights into what their experience was at the venue.

at this hidden gem in the southwest. We also utilized the barn for our grooms dinner which was equally as beautiful. They did an excellent job creating a lovely ambiance for any part of the ranch, whether that is inside or outside. Randy The Ranch Hand was incredible. Extremely professional, punctual with returning our calls and emails, organised, very knowledgeable, and one of the friendliest people we have ever met! This was a destination wedding for us and Randy did an exceptional job coordinating. He truly made our experience stress free and was always readily available to help or answer any questions we had. We also utilized Randy for the rentals he offered. We chose to rent the dance floor, audio for the ceremony (we couldn’t see any equipment anywhere and guests could hear every word perfectly), and the magic mirror from him. Our family and guests flew in from all over the US, many of whom had never been to New Mexico and they left memorized by the Land of Enchantment wanting to book their own trips back! We will definitely be returning for our anniversaries to come and utilizing the ranch for family reunions. We loved it so much!

“There are not enough good things that I can say about this venue and Randy The Ranch Hand. The photos do not do this venue justice. Touring the venue in person is an out of this world experience. The ranch itself has the most beautiful southwest architecture and is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Each room has a theme and has plenty of activities for everyone. Real Honeymoon

A dreamy getaway to the Isle of Skye

Kati and Myles cherished some alone time in one of Scotland’s pristine isles

WHERE DID YOU HONEYMOON? We honeymooned in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, for a couple of weeks after our winter wedding in Estonia. We stayed there for 7 nights at the beginning of March. WHERE DID YOU STAY? We stayed in the gorgeous converted chapel Supernova, rented via Unique Home Stays (uniquehomestays.com) near the village of Carbost, on the west coast of the Isle. This luxurious cottage had everything we needed for our week away. We picked it because of its relatively remote location. We wanted to relax and unwind after our busy wedding abroad. It was also a great base to explore the island. WHAT DID YOU GET UP TO? We wanted to take it easy and get away from it all (hence, the decision to go to the island out of the season). We explored Skye’s culinary scene, tasted some whiskey, did some hiking and just enjoyed being away from the busy city life. We loved that in many parts of the island, the wifi and 4G network was patchy (including our cottage), which meant that we could really disconnect from the world and just enjoy each other’s company. Something quite rare in this digital age. WHICH PLACES DID YOU VISIT? We both love whiskey, so obviously, we visited a distillery. Talisker Whiskey Distillery was near to our cottage, so it was easy for us to go and have a look around. Unfortunately, as we were visiting off-season, the distillery was closed for tours, but we still had a minitasting and got ourselves a few bottles from the gift shop. Something to be aware of, in case you visit Skye off-peak, is that lots of places might be closed or working part-time. We didn’t mind it, but if you did want to visit something specific, it’s something to bear in mind and check in advance. I used to work in fashion, so for me, a tour of Skyeskyns, the famous sheepskin tannery and their showroom, was one of

the highlights of the trip. It’s based in the Waternish Peninsula in the northwest corner of Skye. As we had a baby with us, we didn’t do as much hiking as we would have liked, but The Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle was one of the hikes we managed to do and it was beautiful – rock pools with crystal clear water. Portree, a pretty harbour town with colourful cottages, is a must-visit when visiting the Isle. WHAT DID YOU EAT? There’s no shortage of excellent restaurants on the island, and it’s known for its fabulous culinary scene, especially seafood. That was also one of the reasons we visited. Some of our favourites were: The Oyster Shed for no-frills but incredible seafood and it was so close to our cottage. The Old Inn, our local pub in Carbost serving simple but delicious pub food. The Three Chimneys, the most famous restaurant in the Isle of Skye, for some world class, high-end dining. Loch Bay in the north of the Island, a cosy little seafood restaurant. Scottish with a french twist! The island has some great coffee shops too, such as the pop-up YurTea&Coffee at the Skyeskyns tannery or Caora Dhubh Coffee Company in Carbost. We also stopped for some delicious cakes at the Jann’s. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOCATION FOR YOUR HONEYMOON?; My husband is Scottish but spent most of his time in England, so we’ve always wanted to see more of Scotland. As we had our wedding in Estonia, where I am from, having our honeymoon in Scotland seemed logical. We also had a 7-month-old baby, so honeymooning somewhere far away was out of the question at that time, as we wanted to take him with us. We chose Skye because of its restaurant scene, remote locations and the breathtaking scenery. WH
