North Mowing is a 230-acre estate in Springfield, Vermont. The property’s nine buildings are arranged on a series of stone terraces which take advantage of expansive views of rural hayfields, Mt. Ascutney, and the Connecticut River Valley. The landscaping and gardens were created by Ellen Biddle Shipman, who also designed St. Gauden’s gardens in New Hampshire.

Style To pay homage to Shipman, this photo shoot combined the traditional ELEGANCE of the landscape with Shipman’s penchant for whimsy. The bouquet worked perfectly with the bride’s Jenny Yoo gown and the groom’s boutonniere used LILY OF THE VALLEY which was growing all around the property.

But Osborne House, a stately home on the Isle of Wight, isn’t your average wedding venue. Queen Victoria – the great-grandmother of our current queen, Elizabeth II – wrote that it was ‘impossible to imagine a prettier spot’ than Osborne. Party in a Tudor castle Pendennis Castle’s rich history dates back to the 1540s. It’s a Tudor fortress built by King Henry VIII to defend England’s southern shores. Nearly five centuries later, it still stands proudly on its rocky headland facing out to sea, surrounded by stunning views over the Cornish coastline and a rich history of service. Inside the castle keep you will find a romantic ceremony space with thick stone walls, traditional wooden benches and a timber-framed roof. In the grounds, open grassy lawns are perfect for spectacular photography and marquee celebrations. For something more contemporary you can choose the Royal Garrison Artillery Barracks – which are over 100 years old - although they have recently been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard.

We are excited to share with you her thoughts and expertise for a dream wedding in the heart of the Mediterranean… How long have you been a wedding and events planner and how did you get into the industry?

I started organising events in 2009. I’ve always had a calling for design and before entering the wedding industry, I worked as an interior decorator. My passion for aesthetics and my attention to details led me to the planning world. In particular, to weddings, and now it has become my full-time job.

Why should a couple choose to have their wedding in Sardinia?

Couples fall in love with Sardinia after their first stay on the island and for most of them it’s love at first sight. Sardinia is a perfect getaway due to its natural contrasts, central position in the Mediterranean and for its mesmerising sea. You probably won’t find this kaleidoscope of colours anywhere else in the world! No wonder it’s named the Caribbean of the Mediterranean, and if you ask me it’s even better!

It’s not easy to plan a beach wedding, there are many aspects to consider and you need to be familiar with the coastal areas, as well as, with the local beaches and venues. There’s a lot of thought that goes into it, from the aesthetics of the location, but also the administrative side of things and the logistics.

an Miguel is not a typical destination for a traditional wedding, but it was the perfect place to celebrate our love story. It’s nestled in the mountains and is full of magic, culture, and on our wedding day, it was full of our families! Our guests flew to San Miguel from all over the world and helped create a memory we will never forget. We fell in love with Rosewood San Miguel from the moment we saw it. The colour, landscape and blend of old and new decor made it the perfect setting for our wedding. I wanted a colour palette that would complement the beautiful scenery of our venue. The Rosewood is filled with bougainvilleas and pampas grass, so I wanted to stay neutral, with tons of greenery, and pops of coral, white and pale pink. We kept our theme in line with “Garden, magical, ethereal” A lot of considerable thought went into decorating the venue. My bouquet had different types of dahlias, ranunculus, anemones, lisianthus, three types of roses, and a mix of eucalyptus. The florals on the tables were meant to mimic my bouquet but with slight adjustments, so we removed the dahlias but kept the others. The tables had glass geometric candle holders with metallic rims and some even had their own Mexican tin stars.

When it came to choosing a wedding dress, I had previously tried on many other wedding lehengas, but nothing seemed to match my vision for our wedding. It wasn’t until I met withMr. Sabyasachi in Mumbai where we talked about San Miguel, the beautiful colours, and how we were planning on pulling off a traditional Hindu wedding in the most non-traditional way. The green dress ended up being the one. It complemented Vince’s hand-printed Sherwani, the mandap location, and our beautiful venue. I wanted to keep my beauty looks fresh, loose, yet still traditional. My hair and make-up artist Andrea created a boho glam look that still felt like me. I wanted the focus to be my outﬁts so I kept my looks neutral with a pop of colour on the lips.

Amy and Mitchell tied the knot amid the breathtaking scenes of California

e chose to celebrate our wedding in Malibu, because we are both from Torrance in the South Bay, so wanted a location that was close enough for our family, and you really can’t beat the views in Malibu. The most important thing for us was to have a venue that felt private. We wanted the wedding to feel like an intimate dinner party. I saw Malibu Rocky Oaks in a magazine, and that was the first venue we looked that. We instantly fell in love with it. It was absolutely stunning, and the views were incredible, but it was small enough to where it still felt very intimate. Once the venue was chosen, the invitations were the first thing we started working on. My sister and maid of honor, Lisa Aihara of Fiber and Dye designed all the stationary and signage for my wedding! She designed the most beautiful invitations; a detailed sketch of the Rocky Oaks with these really pretty botanical illustrations. She used all neutral colors with a splash of green, which we loved. Our wedding planner Shannon Dexter designed and put together the most brilliant team to decorate the space. It was perfect. Our florist Carissa Jones of JL Designs hit it out of the park with the flowers. My favorite part was the semi circle arrangement we had in lieu of a traditional arch. It was the perfect framing, for the picturesque views from the helipad,where we had our ceremony. I got my dress at The White Dress bridal store in Corona Del Mar. I had a very specific ‘feel’ in mind, I knew I wanted something feminine, delicate but also classic; but I didn’t really know what style or cut I wanted. But when I tried on the Watters Mihr Dress, my mom, mother in law, sister, and bridesmaids all kind of knew it was the one. The dress really determined my hair and makeup. My hair and makeup artist Tokiko Inoue, suggested this really soft braided updo, which I instantly fell in love with. As for make up, I just told her I wanted to look like myself, just 100x better! My favorite part of the whole look though, was the earrings that Mitchell bought me. They were these beautiful diamond crawlers that matched the botanical detail on my dress. We designed them together before the wedding, which was a bit tricky to do without giving away anything about my dress, but we got it done!

Charlotte and Antonio celebrated their love in the antique city of Seville.

eville was our chosen destination, as it is my husband’s hometown, and I had always loved the beauty and soul of the city. It was also an excuse for all our friends and family that didn’t know Seville to travel down there. When it was time to choose our wedding and reception venues, we knew straight away that we wanted to combine my love of history, and Antonio’s profession, architecture. Casa Pilatos seemed like the perfect balance for us for the reception. For the ceremony, we were keen to hold it as an intimate event at the Seville Town Hall which is charged in history. Casa Pilatos did not need much decoration, so we kept it simple. The table plan became a feature in its own right. The tables were covered in a navy table cloth and the flowers added to the antique silver cutlery and details. Flowers were used in the courtyard, and the lighting brought the venue to life. We also had a neon MR & MRS Q sign made for the dance floor as our reference to ourselves throughout the wedding. For our colour palette, we wanted to play on the fact that in March you sit in between winter and spring, therefore using the deep jewel tones of the venue, dark blues, reds and greens seemed like the perfect idea. We did significantly try and keep costs down and were constantly negotiating based on the amount of guests we had. However, I am a big believer that you get what you pay for, so in some instances, I preferred to go with the option that was a little costlier, knowing that it would tick all the right boxes. You also need to realise that, destination does not always mean cheaper. Especially if you have a very precise idea in mind, which as a planner myself, I did. We wanted to create decors and ideas that aren’t common at our destination, which meant sourcing niche but local vendors, so you end up paying the same as you would back home. I had both my dresses made in India, in a studio where we codesigned both outfits over a year. I then flew out with my sister for two full days of final fittings. The top and skirt that I wore for the civil ceremony were stunning, light and very comfortable! And the bridal gown for the reception was inspired by the flamenco dress shapes, and beaded to reflect th Arabic designs of the azulejos at the venue. We also wanted to incorporate some blue beads to be my something blue, to reflect the venue and incorporate my favourite colour. Both outfits and embroidery were completely made by hand. For my hair and make-up looks, I wanted to look like a better version of myself. That was the brief, simple and straight to the point; me on a really good day. And that’s what we achieved! Hair up so that you could really see and appreciate the detail of the neckline of the dress as well as my beautiful tiara and I kept my make-up, simple, good for photos, and accentuating my eyes.

How long have you been a wedding and events planner and how did you get into the industry? I have been in the industry for almost 20 years now. When I was in college, I began assisting DJs to earn some pocket money and was instantly drawn to events. To understand the work better, I also started assisting in organizing college and social gatherings and the sound, light and production setup jobs appealed a lot to me. This drove me to sign up as a production executive in an event management company. In fact, I actually joined as a production trainee and had to prove myself worthy of being hired by consistently performing over a 2-month probation period. Well, I got the job and worked and grew with the same company for 13+ years.

You have a unique approach, how would you describe it? We are a professionally run company, driven by a passion for our work and this is reflected in our approach.

However, since everything we do for our clients is related to special occasions and is quite personal, we ensure that along with maintaining a professional approach it is in-line with what suits the family. During our meetings with the families we actually study their vibe and style, understand likes and dislikes and their vision before we propose the necessary themes, arrangements, etc., to ensure that we provide the couple and the family with the perfect dream wedding celebration.

How do you go about modifying your approach to ensure that it is bespoke for each couple?

Our business is very subjective, and it is extremely important to understand the requirements correctly. Our key differentiator is the brief from the client and we have a very unique methodology of gathering all the essential information from the couple. Equipped with this information we then internalize all the steps and then we use our experience accordingly to propose the entire theme / idea for execution.

The planning process can often be daunting for couples, how do you ensure the process is smooth and efficient? Experience plays an extremely important role and we ensure that the appropriate guidance is provided during the entire planning process as well as the execution stages. Following our internal pre-set guidelines, processes and check-lists are all a very important and critical part of our success. Additionally, our team leaders are also very experienced, extremely reliable, and most importantly passionate about their work, ensuring that the rest of the team also enjoy the process.

What is your favourite part of the day?

I love every part of what I do but usually prefer mornings since the mind is fresh to work on creative ideas.

How much notice would you prefer before being contacted?

Ideally, we always prefer to be given 6 to 9-months advance notice but we have previously accepted and delivered projects even as late as 45-60 days before the wedding. A lot is dependent on the number of functions, level of effort required, current status of job, etc., and essentially whether the task is feasible for us within the available time-frame, as we always ensure that we only take up last minute projects only if we have the bandwidth to deliver.

While we are a global wedding planning and management company, we have managed multiple weddings across the most picturesque areas in Europe, Asia and other locations but India brings its own charm. The rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, great choice of food and the available resources makes it a dream destination. Additionally, there are multiple options available for all themes including venue, hospitality, materials, labour, etc., are all extremely cost-effective, so a lot more can be achieved for a lower amount of money.

Have you seen any interesting wedding trends arise recently?

While each wedding has its own separate style and sense, of late the use of technology is becoming increasing prominent. How do you tailor your services to be bespoke to every couple?

To be a good planner means to be a very good listener from the very first moment you meet the couple. If you get to know their expectations very well, you will be able to customize every single detail and create a truly bespoke event.

What do you think defines a Luxury Wedding? How long have you been a wedding planner and when did your journey begin?

After several years in the retail industry, I began planning weddings and managing events for large audiences. My previous background, allowed me to gain great skills that are useful in the planning industry; from accounting, marketing, logistics, management and much more.

How would you describe your style and approach?

I am pleased to say that we offer the purest Italian style combined with an international approach to managing and planning events. That is exactly what our brides expect from us when they choose to get married in Italy.

We would love to hear about a wonderful wedding you have planned recently.

A few months ago we managed a 3-day-wedding for a Finnish couple in Rome. It was an amazing wedding with three different events in three different stunning venues: a cocktail party with a panoramic view of Rome, a very stylish reception in an ancient castle, and a pool party with a Sicilian tone.

How do you ensure that the planning process is smooth and enjoyable?

We want our clients to get the best of the best; their expectations must be fulfilled from the very beginning. That is why we have developed our own management

Do you do destination weddings and if so, which destinations have you noticed to be the most popular?

Most of our weddings are destination weddings; we work all across Italy. Our brides tend to prefer amazing venues in areas with warm weather. That’s the reason why Amalfi Coast and the city of Rome are among the most popular destinations.

Why do you think couples should choose to hire a wedding planner?

My clients are very demanding and have a substantial budget to spend. So the real question is: “what kind of wedding planner should they choose?” My suggestion is to look for the professional that stands out in the crowd, never trust the unknown, search for excellent references.

What’s the best moment you’ve had as a wedding planner?

A few years ago I decided to create a web community for wedding planners, as a support group in connection with my Wedding Business School. Now I am proud to say that more than 3000 Italian wedding planners have joined my community and they see me as a real authority in this industry, the person they run to when they need help or just a word of wisdom.

edding Designer Javier Martínez is an experiential designer, celebrity florist and bridal event creator. Martínez is best known for his innovative vision and creative drive to transform every event into a memorable experience. His impeccable taste, creativity and reputation, makes him the most successful designer in the Caribbean. For more than 25 years, his designs have been showcased in the most stylish and influential spaces. He continues to create unique corporate and social events in Puerto Rico and Miami. Twelve years ago, he joined his life partner, Rafael López, founder of The Lounge- a renowned event furniture rental business - that now complements his design atelier, Akua and Events Design Group. Together, they now have expanded their design business globally.

How long have you been an event planner and when did your passion for floral design begin?

My creative passion has evolved since the eighties, when I began experimenting with extravagant painted flower arrangements. I was just too curious and wanted to continue creating new ways to please my clients, making sure every aspect of their special occasion was on point. Now, my vision goes beyond the bride’s bouquet to create a multisensorial memorable story.

What is the secret to your success?

I love what I do. To me, every day is like a special occasion with a goal to meet. I look for inspiration everywhere in the world and staying in touch with nature and people makes me a better interpreter of beauty and art. My team support my work ethics and go out of their way to ensure that we

realize every detail of our clients’ ideas. We nurture our relationship with our partners and industry leaders to ensure the best results. Strong and honest relationships are the foundation of my drive to succeed.

When starting a new project, what inspires you?

Everything. Challenges and collaborations are great to spark creativity and change. Just the idea of working on a new project anywhere in the world, ignites my attention. I like to get a good sense of all the cues: from interpreting an idea or dilemma, to a simple fabric sample, a song or the memory of a location.

How do you ensure that your event planning is bespoke to every couple?

Our mission is to translate their vision into unforgettable memories. We provide them with design ideas and all the elements that will showcase a unique experience for their guests. We like to create events that are exquisite, tasteful and unforgettable with special details that reveal the couple’s personality and dreams.

While planning a wedding or event, do you have a favourite moment?

The first meeting is very exciting, because in that moment you feel the enthusiasm of the couple. Although, my favourite moment is when I get to see all the elements evolve in harmony: the wonderful fragrances of the chosen flowers or the effects of a brand when it becomes the life of the party.
